How Does Rem Verify My Identity?

  2. KYC Procedure: Rem follows the KYC (Know Your Customer) guidelines, a globally recognized system that ensures financial safety. This entails a detailed check of the documents you provide against several verification databases.
  3. Real-time Verification: To ensure the authenticity of your documents, we sometimes ask for a real-time photo or a short video verification. This is a quick selfie moment to match your face with the ID provided. It’s fast, easy, and secure!
  4. Data Encryption: Your safety is our top priority. Any information or document you upload is encrypted and stored following the highest security standards. Your data is only accessed for verification purposes and is not shared with third parties.

Types of identification

We accept these documents to verify your identity:

  1. Passport (photo page only)
  2. National ID Card
  3. Driver's License

However, here are a few important information to note:

  1. Documents Issued from Ghana: Even though you can verify your identity with the above three acceptable card types, we recommend using Ghana's national ID card - the government-issued ECOWAS ID card.
  2. Documents Issued from Nigeria: We can only accept BVN, passports, driving licences and the most recent Nigerian national ID. However, we strongly recommend verifying with your BVN. We can't accept paper-slips, regional IDs or voter ID documents.

What do you do with my information?

Protecting your information is very important to us. All data, financial details, or documents you give us are stored securely, encrypted, and kept private as per our privacy policy.

Troubleshooting verification

We hope you don’t have any issues with verification. But here are a few tips in case you do.

If we don't accept your document:

  1. It may have some of the information covered. We need to see the full document photo page.
  2. It may be expired. Please check that your document is still valid before you upload it.
  3. Your details may not match. Please check that you have entered your name and date of birth correctly on the app.
  4. We may also need to see the back of the document. If there is information on both sides, please make sure you upload both for us.
  5. It may be a document type that we can’t accept.
  6. It may be in a format we can’t accept, like a PDF.

If you haven’t heard from our team within 5 working days:

  1. Check your email, including the junk box, we may have sent you an email on why the delay.
  2. Contact us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
